In memoriam
Morello Scholarship
The William Morello Sr. Memorial Scholarship – Est. 2025
Bill Morello Sr. was a tireless coach and advocate for boys and girls wrestling in Western New York for over 40 years. In April 2025, Bill passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. For over two years, Bill fought his cancer privately with the grit and toughness of a wrestler. During this time, Bill continued his duties as a coach at Lockport High School without missing a beat. His death came as a surprise to many, as most were unable to tell that there was anything wrong with Coach Sr. throughout his battle. Nickel City Duals is proud to award two annual scholarships beginning in 2025 in memory of Coach Bill Morello Sr. to a male and female senior wrestler who display grit, heart, and a true passion for the sport of wrestling.
Congratulations to our 2026 scholarship recipients:
- Bella Andes – Lockport High School ⏎ Sawyer Dickinson – Kenmore West High School
